BONFIRE THIS FRIDAY. Egads, enough with the nagging,
peeps! My arm has been thoroughly twisted, splitting an
infinitive in the process, so we are definitely having a big ole
bonfire this Friday the 15th. Yes, it is a blatant ploy to
milk word of mouth for our Burning Man fundraiser, Ultra
Ultra Violet, two days later, but
hey, can you blame us? Remember to bring plastic cups for your
beers and pack out all your trash when you
leave. |

Our Burning Man party is this Sunday at 1015
Folsom. I hope you can join us for a really groovy time.
Please note, though that it's an early party, from 6:00pm til
midnight. I'm really psyched to be back in 1015 for the first
time in years. That place is a trip, loaded with memories for
me from when I used to run Product there in the early 90s.
The DJs I've books are fantastic.
There's been a massive amount of buzz for months about Dragn'fly,
who'll be sharing the main floor with Sugar's Ellen Feratto who's
spinning early. We're also having a second dancefloor, the
Indigo Lounge upstairs with Ouchy the Clown and Pinky Ring spinning
indie, and above the dancefloor in the balcony lounge Ken Vulsion
plays ambient.
Right now Flower Frankenstein and Michael
from Fairyland are creating big ole custom ultraviolet art for our
party that's really groovy looking. Good music, creative
visuals, and fun friends. Sometimes I love my job.

SIMPLE REVIEW OF SUNDANCE. Sheesh, I need to spend
more time away from San Francisco on micro-adventures. Popping
up to Sundance, the collection of parties at the Russian River last
weekend was a hoot. Read
my travelogue from the weekend for a few snickers this
afternoon. Overall it was a great weekend with really well
produced events, but lord do the gays make my internal monologue
writhe. |

| Circumventing Friendster (while cleaning my
oven). Friendster is an amusing internet phenomenon, and
probably the best thing to happen for stalkers in a LONG time.
The site is a dating site masquerading as an experiment in
six-degrees-of-separation. Unlike other dating sites, though,
Friendster shows how you are connected to people you might find
interesting. Currently it is free to use, but they're about to
start charging to contact people not within your "personal
network." How do we solve that? Add
me as your friend (Ggreg Taylor, like duh!), and your
personal network expands exponentially. Supposedly there are
534,346 people in my personal network. How could a few more
hurt? That way you add a huge quantity of people to your now
free-of-charge network. Fancy, no?
I expect Friendster to remain
entertaining for about five minutes more. Their policy of
forcing people to only use dull photos of themselves is super lame,
and has alienated a number of my artist friends. But it's
still worth playing with, and has entertained me quite a bit.
I've found a few pals I haven't seen in years, and gotten a very
validating number of woofs. Moo, however, is apparently the
new woof. Make a note of it. |
