As we hope you all know, the original
mission of the WUE was to bring you a free outdoor haloween party featuring
world class talent. This year, we are planning our third spooky bash, and hope
you will join us. This year, for the first time ever, WUE will be a
campout event. We will also be using a virigin location that we hope you
will like. As always, WUE will be in the mountains, but this time most of
the driving will be on straight, paved roads. We will have plenty of flat
open space, and a river/lake to chill by. We will (hopefully) be going
all out with our crazy WUE decorations, which as you know tend to be a bit off
the wall. Also this year we will have a much larger sound system, courtesy
of Neuroscience.
Although we usually send out announcements the
day before the party, we figured that we would give you all time to prepare
adequately for this one. So mark your calendars for Friday night October
18th.
The spooky goblins and gouls chilling your soul for the eve
will be:
Andy W (Viberation, SF)D'John (WUE,
Stockton)DJ Pat (WUE, Fresno)Dragn'fly (WUE,
Sacramento)Forest Green (Cloudfactory,
SF)KelleyGroove (WUE, Sacramento)Mikey J
(WUE, Sacramento)Neuroopsyntist (Neuroscience, San
Jose)Trace Evans (WUE, San Jose)As always, this
party is NOT open to the public. This has always been our way, but after
having gear stolen and hearing reports of violence at the two parties we have
had open to the public, it is now even more important. If you are not on
the WUE list already, you will need to get on it before attending the event.
Directions to the map point will only be sent out via email. There
will be no infoline. Once at the map point your info will be checked.
If you are not on the mailing list, please write us at
thewue@thewue.org and let us know that you
want to be put on the list. When writing us, please let us know how you heard
about the event. Keep in mind that you may be asked to justify to us why we
should allow you to attend. This may be as simple as telling us who told you
about the party or as complicated as having to write a short essay on why we
should accept you into our family and what you will bring to the family.
To some this will sound elitist, however we feel that it is the best
interest of our family to keep it tight knit. The few times we have eased these
restrictions, we've had problems. This is all extra work for us that we
certainly don't have time to do, but it is necessary to ensure that we maintain
the level of quality that we are striving for.
Now that the formalities
are out of the way, there isn't much left to share with you. Those of you
on the WUE list will receive an email with directions the morning of the event.
For those travelling from far off lands, plan on driving 45 to 90 minutes
north of Sacramento, depending on traffic conditions. Bring tents,
sleeping bags, basketball rims, chocolate milk, and all that good stuff.
Dress warm. There won't be a bonfire. We may bave barrel fires, but
those only give off so much heat so prepare acordingly. Costumes are
encouraged (this is a haloween party afterall), but make sure you are warm.
A naughty nurse costume would certainly make all the DJs happy, but seeing
you not dance because you're cold wouldn't make them happy.
Thats all we
have for you now. Stay turned as the event nears for more information.
